Karenni armed groups and the People Defense Force (PDF) launched a successful ambush on a junta regime reinforcement convoy between Hpasawng and Bawlakhe.
The attack, which took place near Papuh village in Hpasawng township of Kayah state, resulted in the deaths of 16 junta soldiers and injuries to 15 others, including the battalion commander.
One junta soldier was also captured alive. The National Unity Government reported that the ambush led to the seizure of the junta’s weapons.
